How to Decalcify & Activate the Pineal Gland (& Why That’s Important…)

By C.Taylor

Decalcifying and activating your pineal gland is an important step towards astral projection.
Chances are, your pineal gland is calcified. Don’t worry, this can be fixed!

The pineal gland is an incredibly important part of your brain.

For those, like myself, fascinated with the more obscure aspects of the brain, it is the “Third Eye”, “Seat of the Soul”, and the intuitive part of the brain.

It produces DMT (Dimethyltryptamine), a natural hallucinogen also called the “spirit molecule”, which allows vivid dreams, imagination, and the “spiritual” stuff.

But, while it has been debated whether decalcifying the pineal gland will help with astral projection and lucid dreaming, or whether it’s more a matter of practice and discipline, the fact is that the pineal gland does a lot more for you beyond your intuitive, spiritual powers.

So, whether or not you are pursuing the wonderful goal of learning to astral project, at will – or not…

…you should be concerned whether your pineal gland is in good working order.

Here’s why:

It controls production of melatonin and seratonin, two very important hormones responsible for much of your health and well-being!

Melatonin is responsible for your sleep-patterns, while seratonin levels out your moods.

Simply put, without a healthy pineal gland, you can’t sleep as well as you are supposed to, and you get depressed.

That should be enough reason for anyone to take the health of their pineal gland seriously.

Fluoride – and why it’s your enemy…

One of the main causes of your pineal gland probably being next-to-useless is the widespread use of fluoride in the water supplies, as well as being present in many processed foods.

And it’s arguable that much of the rise in depression is due to how clogged-up our pineal glands have become!

It’s a fact, and a strange one, that although in most Westernized countries the standard of living has improved, that there are more opportunities, less poverty and starvation, and better education, depression has been on a steady rise since the ’40s, which was the time that fluoride started to be added to water.

And in 26 out of 27 tests, water fluoridation was linked to a drop in IQ by 7 points.

Because the pineal gland is largely water-filled, it’s a magnet for everything bad you consume, but especially (obviously!) water with unnaturally high levels of fluoride.

So fluoride isn’t good for your brain! Just avoid it. Bottled water is unfortunately more expensive, but worth it, if you don’t have access to a natural spring. (I don’t.)

DO check whether your bottled water has actually got added fluoride or not. It often can!

And by the way, unfortunately, Brita water filters and the like are NOT able to filter out fluoride. And distilled water is not a good idea to drink as it not only tastes awful, but leeches the minerals from your body.

Processed Foods – avoid as much as possible

Besides all of the other risks you already know about processed foods and the dubious practices in the food and agricultural industry? Do you really need to know more?

For the record, I’m including refined sugars, fats, and flours. And lay-off fizzy drinks for the same reason.

Discover more of what I’ve observed about diet & the Out-of-Body Experience…

Detoxing Your Pineal Gland

So, you’re successfully avoiding the bad stuff.

Now you need to get the crap out of your system.

There’s a bunch of stuff about this on the internet, and most of it’s nonsense. You probably noticed this yourself.

Forget all the enemas, colonic irrigations and nasty stuff like that.

Just drink plenty of good water, eat organic foods.

Concentrated beetroot juice is quite amazing for detoxing yourself. But if you find it really unpleasant, maybe a nice Borscht might be a more palatable way to consume beetroot?

Exercise will sweat a lot of the bad stuff from you.

The body is quite good at cleaning itself up, it’s what your liver is for. As long as you’re not topping up the bad stuff faster than it can get rid of it…

Finally, the Activation…

Spiritual practice is essential to the activation of the pineal gland.

Meditation, regular meditation. The meditation exercise here is designed to work through all of your chakras, and awaken the pineal gland, without you even knowing it!

How to Lucid Dream – An Easy (& Highly Effective) Technique

By C.Taylor

How to induce a lucid dream

Tips for Lucid Dreaming You Can Put Into Practice Today!

While you’re learning how to Astral Project, it’s a good idea to also have lucid dreaming as a goal.

Lucid dreaming is a type of astral projection, and for many people it is easier – and certainly having some early successes with lucid dreaming will help you keep your motivation.

Also, it is quite possible to turn a lucid dream into a full-on out-of-body experience.

What’s also exciting is that training yourself to lucid dream is quite a simple process.

Step 1. Keep a diary by your bed, as otherwise you’re likely to forget your dreams, and also what was successful for you! Don’t be one of the many who forget the importance of recording experiences.

Step 2. Choose a time when you’ll have your lucid dreaming experience. For me, setting my alarm clock an hour or so earlier than normal is often helpful. Then I’ll move to step two.

Step 3. First, get into the habit of saying affirmations. These want to be specific, such as:

“Tonight, when I sleep, I will become aware that I am having a dream. And instead of waking-up I’ll have a lucid dream, which I will remember tomorrow!”

Say your affirmation to yourself several times before going to sleep, focusing on what you are saying, and meaning it.

Step 4. Finally all that’s left to do is give yourself as much opportunity as you can to realize when you’re in a dream.

If you’re struggling with this, you’re not doing it right, as it really is very simple.

You simply need to create a habit of reality checking – to question, frequently, whether you are awake or dreaming.

So, how do we do a Reality Check?

What you need to do is pick a simple action, event, or object, and every time you observe it, ask yourself if it seems real. Examine it, and ask yourself:

“Does this seem normal?”

This is a type of mental reprogramming, and is extremely quick to do, but it must be done regularly, many times a day, to be effective.

(If you pick the types of reality checks that I’m about to suggest, there’s no reason anyone else would think anything odd about you, so don’t worry about that!)

Here are a few objects that you can practice taking a reality check from:

  • Your hands (in a dream, they may not look “quite right”, when looked at closely. They may look like an unfinished sketch, for instance…)
  • Your watch (You may check the time many times a day, but almost certainly don’t take in the actual appearance of your watch. From now on, you could check it to make sure it looks real, and that it’s doing what it’s supposed to.)
  • Light switches (Since we generally dream at night time, lots of dreams are “set” during night-time hours. Get used to observing how your light switches look, work, and the sound they make.)

Some actions you can take a reality check from:

  • Going to the toilet – when you urinate in real-life, the feeling is relieving, but in a dream it is not. Get used to being aware of your own sensations…
  • Eating – again, in a dream, the sensation of eating is quite different. You may be able to taste – but often not – but certainly no matter how much you eat will fill you up.
  • Drinking – However much you drink, it will not moisten your mouth, and will not satisfy your thirst.

Once you’ve got into the habit of checking whether you are awake or dreaming during your waking hours, it stands to reason that this habit will remain while you’re dreaming, too!

Sooner or later, you’ll find that you are in a dream (affirmations before sleep will help with this, too!), and you’ll be ready to have your first lucid dream.

So, You’ve Established That You’re Dreaming. Now What?

You’ve just managed the most difficult stage – and it really wasn’t that difficult, was it?

Now, you can pretty much choose what you’d like to be possible!

Flying’s a popular choice, and you don’t have to be limited to your own country, or anywhere you know. (You can fly into outer space, and visit other worlds…)

You could take a wonderful holiday, and still be back home the moment your alarm clock rings.

But there’s so much else you can do.

You could practice giving a speech that you’ve been nervous about, or having a “difficult” conversation. If you suffer from anxiety in social situations, you could practice these, and increase your social confidence.

Last, and certainly not least, you can use a lucid dream to launch into an out-of-body experience…

Psst: If you’d like to learn to lucid dream in the fastest way I know of, you could do a lot worse than check out my very affordable book Fast-Track Lucid Dreaming.

The God Helmet – How Does it Compare to an Actual OBE?

By C.Taylor

Neuroscientists can recreate an OBE by simulating the stimuli to the brain during an OBE.

Dr Michael Persinger‘s God helmet, an adapted crash helmet with a number of electrodes on the inside, is used to disrupt the senses, mimicking trauma to the brain in a safe, controlled environment.

The idea is that if the results are similar to the Near Death Experience, with its feelings of calm and the visual elements like a tunnel of light, then the spiritual aspects of the NDE may have been effectively explained away.

This sort of experiment is NOT something that an OBEer should feel hostile about.

The more that is understood about these types of experience the better for the human race, but particularly for practitioners of Astral Projection!

How it works:

Sensory and visual centers of the brain in the right hemisphere are stimulated using electromagnetic fields.

The stimuli are safe, and of a lower power than, say, a hair dryer.

The subject needs to be in a state of a certain level of sensory deprivation. There needs to be no outside disturbances, and a covering over the eyes is part of the experiment.

Results certainly differed from person to person, with creative people such as artists and musicians having by far the most encouraging results.

However, it was realized that the best proof of the God Helmet making an effective recreation of a Near Death Experience was to find subjects who had clinically died, and had experienced an OBE.

Genuine experiencers of NDE were sought, to try the God Helmet and directly compare the two.

If the real and induced experiences were similar, it may mean that the entire experience of OBEs is simply unusual brain activity!
[I still struggle to understand how a person who is clinically dead can create brain activity and form memories, but that’s another question.]

Subjects who have experienced both Persinger’s God Helmet and a Bona Fide NDE speak of the similarities between the two, but the mechanically- induced version is far more muted.

The images they see are notably more random, and there is no sensation of movement from the body.

It has been described as like an OBE, but with less intensity, and without the “Out of Body” bit! Aspects of the OBE are touched upon, but in a much less profound way. Maybe the induced experience is just the first step of many!

That science can even start to look into such questions is truly amazing. But it still doesn’t answer the question of what happens when we die.

It seems that the God Helmet is a pale imitation of the real thing; but there does appear to be enough similarity for us to wonder if science is getting quite close indeed to unlocking the secrets of what goes on during death!

How Many People Actually Manage to Have an Out of Body Experience?

By C.Taylor

How common are out-of-body experiences?

The answer to this may surprise you!

But, when all types of OBE are counted, an estimated 10% of people have had an out of body experience of some description at some point in their life.

Some estimates are as high as 25%!

So when you are feeling as though your efforts are not leading anywhere, and you are repeatedly getting close, and feeling the vibrations, but not actually leaving your body, this is a statistic to think about!

Statistically, it appears that having an OBE is not much more difficult than falling off a log!

Of course, when you are deliberately trying to induce an OBE for the first time, it doesn’t seem that way.

But, when you bear in mind that we are including mystics from various religions, and those who have had a near death experience, people whose experience has been triggered by a lucid dream, or occur on the operating table, or from sleep paralysis, and people from so many walks of life, maybe this statistic is really not so surprising after all.

After all, how many people around the world have terrifying accidents that jar their senses?

How many heart attacks are there around the world? How many drug overdoses?

How many operations are performed around the world, daily?

How many monks are there, of all religions, practicing daily meditation?

How many people with sleeping disorders?

And how many people are there like you, silently practicing until they can induce an OBE at will?

How many people do you know, who have had an OBE, but haven’t mentioned it? It would appear, rather a lot…!

Is there any Scientific Research on OBEs and NDEs? – The Science Behind the Out of Body Experience

By C.Taylor

Arising in OoBE

If you listen to a lot of people, you will get the impression that the Out of Body Experience is something esoteric, not understood or studied or taken seriously by science.

Quite the opposite, actually, a great deal of research has been done, and is continuing, more than you might think…

Although results are not completely conclusive, there is enough evidence gathered by the scientific community to ponder upon.

Is it surprising?

Doctors of cardiology quite frequently come across specific examples of OBEs, experienced by patients on the operating table.

Sleep specialists will be familiar with stories of subjects feeling that they left their bodies during an episode of sleep paralysis.

Many people who have an interest in phenomena such as the OBE simply seem to have a natural antipathy towards science. They feel that their beliefs are being challenged and debunked. However I am not one of those!

Science has a great deal to offer, both now and in the future, and anything that helps us understand the science behind the OBE is a good thing; however it does help to understand that by its nature science has to be impartial, so the methods and language can be a long way off from our experience. Science simply can’t convey, and nor should it, the excitement that we feel.

But there’s definitely plenty we can learn.

Let’s go back to the beginning…

The Out of Body Experience, especially that associated with a Near Death Experience or NDE, is often used as a proof for the existence of the human soul.

Some scientists, often fuelled by their own out of body experiences, or those of their patients, have sought to reproduce the effect of an OBE in a laboratory setting.

Many people who have an OBE are clinically dead, and typically see a bright light (either a tunnel or living sun), see key spiritual figures from their own particular faith or belief system, and experience a feeling of love and forgiveness.

But what does science have to say about the Out of Body Experience, and does it prove the existence of the eternal human soul?

It is as important for science to answer the questions about what happens in human consciousness as we go down the path of clinical death as it is for students of religion or the paranormal.

Work with cardiac arrest patients, in particular, has helped scientists understand more about what happens during an NDE.

Now, scientists don’t necessarily agree that there is proof of a human soul, but they do generally agree that it does provide evidence of extra potential of the human brain.

The Human Soul Has a Weight and it is 21 grams!

By C.Taylor

Of course it doesn’t and it isn’t. But as a story it still really captures my imagination!

The story goes back to 1901, when a Dr Duncan MacDonald of Massachusetts, weighed patients who were dying of TB in a rest home.

When it became apparent that they were not much longer for this world, the patients were weighed, with their bed, on an industrial-sized scale.

Within moments after death, the results seemed to suggest the patients had lost, on average, 21 grams of weight, which it was suggested was the result of their soul leaving their bodies.

His subsequent experiments with animals lead him to postulate that animals do not have souls.

The results of his experiments were quite widely published, and remain somewhat in the public consciousness, in spite of being fairly meaningless and without any real merit.

His experiments were given a new surge of public interest due to reference to his work in the title of the excellent film “21 Grams“. The film is essentially about its characters’ struggles to come to terms with the weight of a human soul in another sense. Recommend you watch it…but don’t go spouting to people about the weight of a soul; you’ll look like a crazy fool!

How Does Science Explain the Sensations Commonly Experienced During an NDE?

By C.Taylor

Scientists have looked at the most common themes that run through accounts of Near Death Experiences.

Of those, these are the ones that appear to be of most interest to scientists:

  • A bright tunnel of light
  • A feeling of great calm, love and forgiveness
  • Guardian figures, either key figures from the subject’s religion, or from the subject’s family or friends

Scientific explanations have been put forward for these; they are not glamorous, but if we are to understand the Out of Body Experience we should be able to consider the possibility that there are rational explanations.

The Tunnel of Light

In an extreme situation, the human body goes into shock. It doesn’t go into shock in the way that TV shows tend to describe going into shock, often from seeing something shocking, and where a slap to the face may bring the subject to.

The body goes into shock in the profound clinical sense. Blood supply is diverted away from some areas, to areas that need more to compensate for blood loss, to maintain body temperature, or whatever else is necessary to keep the subject alive.

Blood supply to the retina is reduced, and with it changes happen to the way blood forms on the retina, due to blood loss and oxygen starvation.

Blood will move to the sides of the retina, and it is easy to see how that could produce the effect of a tunnel of light, or as in other accounts, the appearance of a “living sun”.

A Feeling of Great Calm

This is also no great surprise to scientists. For the same reason as above, when the subject goes into shock, blood supply, and the oxygen it carries, is diverted from the brain. This results in feelings of indifference, calm, resignation and sometimes euphoria.

You will have probably heard about people deliberately suffocating or strangling themselves to increase their sexual kicks!

Guardian Figures

Again, this is not too hard to explain. Oxygen starvation, blood redirection creating unusual configurations on the eyes, confusion, trauma, these could certainly combine to create images that would have a particular significance during such an extreme time as we experience on the path towards clinical death.

If you have ever stared into a fire, or watched cloud formations create images, it is possible to see why this is not so far fetched. When I was a child, my bedroom had curtains in which I could see all manner of weird and wonderful, and sometimes frightening, things.

The fact that the Guardian figures are so personalized also suggests that it is our brain activity that is creating them.

(Although I do struggle to understand how our brain activity can be so, well, active, when we are clinically dead.)

Aspects of the NDE that are a little harder for science to explain…

For me, there are some major aspects of the NDE that are not explained to my satisfaction.

How does science explain the feeling of literally leaving the body, and looking down upon yourself?

(It turns out that, to an extent, this sensation can be triggered in a laboratory setting. There is a part of the brain that can displace the perception, and make a person view themselves from outside their own body. But why does not seem to be understood…)

Most of all, there really has not been a strong explanation of the transformative aspect of a near death experience.

Seemingly without fail, those who return to the physical world after experiencing a clinical death, return with something rather more than being simply thankful to be alive!

People who return from an NDE are usually profoundly changed, not just emotionally and spiritually, but also physically.

Whether you choose to call it an Out of Body Experience or a Near Death Experience, it is certainly utterly unforgettable.

People speak of coming back as another person.

If a human brain is capable of creating this kind of experience, of tapping into such a life-changing power, and that’s all it is, just brain activity, do you know what? That’s okay with me!

Conclusion

It is important that studies are done to help us understand the Out of Body Experience, and necessarily these must be done by scientists.

If history has taught us anything, it is that a “clinical study”, when performed by a non-clinical individual, and particularly when they have an interest in getting a certain result, always results in flawed evidence. Every time.

But science is still unable to tell the full story.

The subjects who experienced near death describe what their sensations were, and scientists look at these descriptions impassionately, as is their job.

But the subjects are not talking literally, but figuratively.

They are trying to put in words their experience so that other people may understand, but what they are trying to describe is quite beyond words!

Why Learn to Astral Project?

By C.Taylor

Since we all have limited time on this planet, and lots of other important things to do, why learn to Astral Project at all?

What are the benefits, and what can we learn from the experience?

To start with, Astral doesn’t really have any obviously-tangible benefits when you return to the “real world”. Non-believers have a tendency to see the whole thing as self-indulgent, crackpot, hippy nonsense. And I can understand this. It must kind of seem that way.

There are, however, some real benefits for you, even if other people don’t necessarily recognize them!

The levels of meditation required for successful Astral Projection are very beneficial for your mental and physical health. Meditation, regardless of the reason, is shown to have great benefits for lowering blood-pressure for instance.

OBEers find that it gives them an opportunity to unwind. In our increasingly hectic world, we never seem to take a break. After even an unsuccessful projection attempt, I find that I am refreshed, and can return to normal life with an increased energy and productivity.

On a more esoteric level, OBEs allow us to see our world from another perspective – from the perspective of changing energies. It opens up a new way for us to understand the reality of life.

But this is a bit much to explain to the sceptic.

So, let it suffice to say, Astral Projection allows us to take a small break from what is called the real world, to take what may even be described as a holiday in our head. Where some people may resort to casual usage of alcohol or drugs, or save up for months to take a vacation, to get a break from the everyday normality, we can do this from the comfort of your own home, with no expense, and with no risk to health.

That ought to be enough to persuade some people to give it a try, and once you experience the effects for yourself, you will also start to recognize the benefits spiritually.

For Action – You won’t know until you try, so start with some relaxation exercises, every day, and as soon as this is becoming a maintainable habit, start to introduce some of the Astral Projection techniques we describe!

Difference Between Out of Body Experiences and Near Death Experiences

By C.Taylor

Ascent of the Blessed

Are Self-Induced Out of Body Experiences and Near Death Experiences the same?

What is the difference between an induced out of body experience, and one triggered by a Near Death Experience or NDE?

The question of whether these experiences are one and the same has had scientists, philosophers, occultists, New Agers, along with practitioners of all major religions pondering for many years.

There are certainly similarities.

But let’s look at the typical elements of an OBE triggered by a Near Death Experience.

Certain elements are common within a Near Death Experience, and transcend cultures, religions and gender. These are:

A sensation of (the soul) leaving the body

Frequently, the victim of an accident is able to remember the sensation of leaving their body. This is often, but not always, accompanied by them being able to look down upon their motionless body.

A feeling of great calm

Those people who have been clinically dead always seem to speak of a over-riding feeling of peace, love and forgiveness.

Even though the experience of death and dying should be supremely stressful, this isn’t what those who experience it and live to tell the tale actually remember.

This is even more strange, since those who have a Near Death Experience seem to only ever have experienced a violent death. It is always triggered by extreme trauma, be it drowning, being shot, a heart attack or an automobile accident.

Safe to say, no-one ever died peacefully in their sleep. Any thoughts why this may be…?

A bright light

A tunnel of light, a “living sun”, or both always seem to feature in the experience. Science has explanations for these, and why they should be so common.

“Guardian” figures

These are often key figures from the individual’s own religion. At other times, they may be key figures from the individual’s life, for instance a departed relative or friend. This is one of the main reasons that when someone has a near death experience, they return to life with an increased feeling of spirituality.

Conclusion

The only conclusion I can draw from comparing the phenomenon of NDEs and OBEs is that they are related, but not the same. The only element that can reliably be expected to occur in both types of experience is the
sensation of leaving the body. The other elements of an NDE may or may not occur in a deliberately self-induced OBE. I have had OBEs certainly where guardian figures have appeared, but more frequently they do not.

Likewise, a feeling of calm is not a given, and certainly not with the sense of resignation to fate that is invariably reported to accompany the NDE.

My sense of wonder during an OBE drives me to explore, to learn, and is never anything that could be described as a passive indifference!

Perhaps they are similar in the way that an ocean liner and a helicopter are similar – they are both man-made vehicles, that work because they are designed following the same fundamental laws of physics, but their
purposes are different.

Meditation – Inducing a State of Trance

By C.Taylor

Meditating for a profound trance-state.

Sometimes, getting into the correct frame of mind for astral projection takes more work.

Here is one tried-and-tested method that has worked for me many, many times.

To start with, make yourself comfortable, in either a lying or sitting position, and close your eyes.

Do the normal breathing and muscle relaxation exercises.

I find that using Binaural Beats helps a lot of people to reach the right state of relaxation.

Next, you will you will use your imagination to visualize colors, in a strict order.

(There are reasons for the colors and the order, but they need not concern you at this time. It is more important that you make every effort to visualize each color as vividly as you can.)

By the way, everyone has different levels of visual imagination, and it is your efforts that are more important than anything else.

First off, I would like you to try to imagine the color red. Visualize a field of color, imagining the color of a glass of red wine, or a shiny red apple, or a cricket ball. Something that would be indisputably red.

Hold this field of color in your mind for a few minutes. If your mind starts to stray, imagine something else with that color.

Next, you will visualize the color orange. I try to imagine an orange field of color by thinking of the robes of a Buddhist monk, or a glass of orange juice. Again, hold your mind on this color.

Next the color yellow. Imagine the pure yellow color of the center of a daisy, or the yolk of an egg. Or the yellow stripes on a bumblebee.

Something that you can use as a point of reference to create a solid yellow color in your mind’s eye.

You will now imagine the color green. A field of grass, like a golf course, will be fine here, or an emerald, and completely focus your mind on that color.

Now, imagine blue. A blue sky, or a sapphire, or crystal blue waters, anything that helps you visualize a perfect blue field of color.

Imagine this blue color slowly turning to indigo.

And then watch, as indigo transforms into the color purple, until finally, it is the deepest, most vivid violet-purple that it is possible for you to imagine.

As you stare into this deep, deep purple, you start to become aware that it is no longer purple, but instead the strongest, brightest, white light imaginable.

The white light is so bright that you may imagine that for some people it could be almost blinding, but looking into it, you feel no discomfort.

You step towards the light, and find yourself entering a tunnel of light.

Keep moving along it, looking straight ahead, while feeling aware of the motion and the movement of your feet.

It is possible to enter an OBE from this point alone, but I will usually use this as an aid to reach a trance-like state, before I go back to a technique such as the rope technique.

Give this a try, when other methods don’t seem to be working, and be prepared to be surprised by the results!

For Action: Find yourself somewhere quiet and comfortable, and try this exercise!
