Why You Should Keep a Diary!

By C.Taylor

Three Reasons Why You Should Keep a Diary!

It is a truism that when you document and measure your attempts at anything, progress is far quicker and easier. This is equally true with Astral Projection!

I recommend a Page-per-View Diary. Sometimes you may only write a couple of lines, but you don’t want to find yourself running out of space when you have a particularly great experience.

Getting into a habit of constantly monitoring your efforts allows you to see what it most effective for you, helps you remember your successes and what caused them, and most importantly, will help keep you motivated.

Keeping a diary is invaluable for:

1. Establishing a routine

Without a routine, it is difficult to achieve anything, let alone something that takes a little more self-discipline.

Make it easy for yourself, and buy a nice, good quality diary that it will be a pleasure to write in. I also like to use a quality fountain pen; somehow it just feels more “right”.

You could also make your notes on your computer or phone, but personally I find the physicality of writing by hand just helps me to achieve my goals better.

It has been said that it takes around one month to establish a new “habit” or routine.

2. Monitoring your successes and failures

It is easy to get some initial positive results, and get close to having an out of body experience, and
then give up. Often, this is just due to forgetting what was successful, and what was not.

Remember, that which is recorded is likely to improve, and when you are actively monitoring and looking for improvements to find your own best personal style is even more likely to yield positive results.

3. Recording experiences makes them real!

With something that may seem so intangible as Astral Projection, the act of writing makes the experiences somehow more “real”. Your close misses will seem more real, and help you to keep motivated.

If you have ever kept a Dream Diary, you will know what I mean. Dreams that you write down when you first wake up will stay with you, but those that you don’t will often disappear by the time you have finished your first coffee of the day.

For Action: Get yourself a diary today, and start writing in it. Your improvements will become obvious very quickly!

How Do I Know I’ve Had an OBE?

By C.Taylor

The simple answer – If you’re not sure, then you haven’t had one!

Harsh, but true.

I have spoken to many people who were not sure, and when they described what they thought might be an OBE, it was clear that they hadn’t.

Genuine OBEs are really quite unmistakable, and once you’ve had one there is no room left for doubt.

It’s not all bad news, though.

Everyone who thought they may have had an OBE described to me perfectly the symptoms to the very early stages prior to a successful exit from the body. Something held them back, or disturbed them, (often panic…) but they were all so close that they could quite literally feel it.

A very good analogy to use is to compare an out of body experience with an orgasm!

When someone asks an agony aunt whether they have had an orgasm, the answer is generally pretty similar – if you have to ask, then you haven’t had one.

But the fact you are asking does indicate that you weren’t a million miles off. Same with Astral Projection.

Another similarity is that while science can explain the sensations, it can’t really do justice to the actual experience.

Conclusion

If you are not sure you have had an OBE, then you most likely haven’t. But it does mean that you are getting very close to achieving one, so for heaven’s sake, keep on trying, and in time you will manage to have one!

For Action – Try keeping a diary, and you will find that by recording your near misses you will get closer and closer to your goal! Read more here…

How Long Does it Take to Master Astral Projection?

By C.Taylor

An understandable question…

…BUT…

This should be recognized immediately as a counter-productive question to be asking yourself. In the same way as asking how long it takes to learn to play piano does not help your progress in any way, and is more likely to lead to despair and lack of motivation if the results do not happen at the pace you hoped, so too with Astral Projection!

Learn to enjoy the learning process, and be proud of the small steps that you will make towards being able to induce an OBE at will.

This, incidentally, is a good motto to use when learning any new skill!

You will learn in different ways from other people, and you may find that some areas will come more naturally to you, and some won’t.

Relax, it will all come together in time.

Nonetheless, if you are asking yourself this question, there is a likelihood that this will not be a satisfying answer, so I will try to give a little guidance as to how long it may take to become competent at Astral Projection.

Virtually nobody “gets” Astral Projection first time. It is a process that can seem incredibly alien to most of us, so any claims that you will be able to learn the techniques behind successful OBE, without help, in less than a few months are generally unrealistic.

You may get a few instances where it works, but these will be caused more-or-less by a combination of chance and a kind of beginners’ enthusiasm, that will be hard to reproduce on a regular basis.

Actually mastering Astral Projection is really only possible when you fully understand each stage and how they tie together to create the right conditions. In fact I know one person who, in spite of some early successes, took a year and a half to start to get predictable results.

So keep trying, and I have full confidence that you will master it eventually!

How Do I Know I’ve Had an OBE?

Why You Should Keep a Diary!

Why Can’t I Astral Project?

By C.Taylor

Astral Projection not working? Do you need help to figure out why your attempts have not been successful?

There may be a number of reasons why your attempts at Astral Projection are not working, yet.

Don’t despair, I’ve probably come across all the problems at one time or another, and I wrote this post to help you solve them!

The First and Most Common Problem Encountered by the Would-Be Astral Traveler is Simply Insufficient Relaxation

If you are struggling to have a successful Astral Projection, chances are that you are insufficiently relaxed, mentally, physically or both.

This can only improve with practice.

Astral Projection is not to be forced or rushed. Many very experienced OBEers still sometimes fail to successfully project.

Often, the best solution is to concentrate on your self-relaxation techniques, which will have huge benefits for you anyway!

I recommend starting off with breathing exercises, deep physical relaxation (baths, massage and progressive muscle relaxation are all very helpful), and meditation, in this order.

We suggest methods of relaxation that will help you achieve the right kind of trance for Astral Projection, and there are also products available to help with this.

Binaural Beats and Isochronic Tones are a very helpful way to induce the correct level of trance – these work by using sound to trigger particular brain frequencies – and can really speed up your progress.

Find out more about these here…

(However, be warned, there are charlatans out there who will try and sell you expensive but poor quality products that will not help with Astral Projection one bit.)

Falling Asleep Before the Out of Body Experience is Successful

Often we lie down, get ourselves fully relaxed and ready for an Out of Body Experience, only to find that we fall asleep before exit from the body is achieved.

This still happens to me, and is nothing to worry about! Your body is conditioned to fall asleep when lying down, particularly in bed, unless you are unfortunate enough to suffer from insomnia.

If you are finding that you always fall asleep when attempting Astral Projection, the best thing to do is change your habits a little bit.

Firstly, since your body has been conditioned to fall asleep in bed, try your OBE exercises outside of the bedroom. This step alone is often enough to create a massive improvement in results!

You are also probably falling asleep because you are tired, so ensuring that you get enough sleep is likely to help with successful Out of Body Experiences.

You can also try Astral Projection in the morning, as after a night’s sleep you will be well rested. Setting your alarm earlier than normal, and doing your astral projection exercises in the morning can often yield results.

Afternoons can be good for Astral Projection, as well, although I sometimes fall asleep then as well.

It is worth saying that often when we fall asleep before exit, we may still manage to experience a Lucid dream, which is different but related to Astral Projection. So it’s worth working on your Lucid Dreaming in tandem with Astral Projection. Later in this website we will outline methods for Lucid Dreaming!

A Failure to Remember Out of Body Experiences

You may be surprised to know that many people who think that they cannot induce an Out of Body Experience simply have difficulty remembering their experiences. Because of the nature of the Out of Body Experience, a failure to remember the experience makes the whole episode as though it didn’t take place.

There are several ways of improving your Astral Projection memories, but the most simple and effective one is simply to keep a pen and paper by your bed, and get into the habit of recording all of your dreams and dream experiences.

There is a high chance that you will rediscover some memories from Astral Projections and Lucid Dreams. Recording dreams is very useful for anyone with an interest in these matters, so you should be doing it, anyway!

Fear, Unease or Panic at the Moment of Projection

As discussed in my article about Techniques for Astral Projection, a profound feeling of vertigo is common before a successful exit from the body, which sometimes stops the student from completing the projection.

Additionally, the point of exit is sometimes accompanied by genuine physical discomfort or even pain.

A pressure is often felt around the head, like a very tight band.

In fact, there is a whole host of common symptoms associated with Astral Projection.

If your attempts to Astral Project are being distracted by these sensations it is useful to understand that these feelings are not unique, and nor are they permanent.

Once your projection is complete, these feelings will disappear.

Trying to Rush the Astral Projection Process

Some people just master Astral Projection quicker than others. In the same way that some people may learn to drive a car quicker than others, it does not necessarily mean that the slower starters will not develop a better technique.

In fact, it is often the case that those who have to work hardest at Astral Projection to get results end up having a much better grasp of it.

Don’t feel that you have to rush the learning experience, it is part of the journey towards Astral Projection!

Pay Attention to When Your Attempts at Astral Projection are Most Nearly Successful

As with learning anything, the key is to observe the conditions that get results, and do more of them.

Even if not completely successful at inducing an Out of Body Experience, if you feel that progress is being made then this is a direction that you should concentrate on.

Dietary and Health Reasons for Unsuccessful Astral Projection

In terms of dietary reasons for problems with Astral Projection, low protein meals are to be recommended before attempting to induce an Out of Body Experience.

I am not advocating a vegetarian diet, and I am far from being a vegetarian, but eating a heavy meal that is high in protein does seem to hinder Astral Projection.

I’m sure it is not a coincidence that the cultures where mysticism is more widespread tend to have a diet that is lower in protein. Furthermore, in the sectors of these societies that are most devoted to the spiritual, such as in the priesthoods, special diets avoiding meat are commonplace.

To be clear, the problem is eating a meal high in protein close to the time that you intend to project. You DON’T need to completely abstain from meat, or indeed any other foods that you enjoy.

In fact, it is best to avoid eating too much of anything before trying to induce an Out-of-Body Experience. The reason for this is that the energy you need to project is being diverted into digesting your meal. Naturally, the heavier the meal, the more energy needed to process it. (I’ve written more about what I’ve learned about diet and Astral Projection here…)

As far as health reasons go, I am far from being the most healthy man on the planet, and this has not restricted my abilities to achieve an Out-of-Body Experience! However, some health issues, such as problems with breathing, can certainly be found to make Astral Projection very difficult. In these instances, your first step should be to seek medical advice.

Focus on each of these points, and you will see a sharp increase in your progress. And soon you will find yourself able to Astral Project successfully and without difficulty.

The Seven Most Effective Techniques for Inducing an Out of Body Experience

Firstly, it is important to say that before attempting to use any of the Techniques for inducing an Out of Body Experience, you should be fully-relaxed in mind and body. Out-of-Body-Experience.info contains lots of information and tips in order to reach the desired state of mind.

Inducing an Out of Body Experience is not something to be forced, and without sufficient relaxation, you are unlikely to project successfully! Read about Out of Body Experience techniques, by all means, but do understand that until you have mastered relaxation and trance-states, you will not be able to do much with them. Now, that said, here are the Seven Best Techniques for Inducing an Out of Body Experience:

1. Inducing an Out of Body Experience Using The Rope Technique

The Rope Projection technique is said to have been devised by Robert Bruce, one of the foremost figures in the world of Astral Projection. The idea was for a method of projection that would be effective for people who were without sight, and therefore relies more on tactile experience than visual memories. The technique hinges around an imaginary rope that hangs above you from the ceiling.

As you lie on your bed, you imagine the rope hanging down towards you, and what you do is visualize yourself (or rather, your Astral Self) taking hold of the rope, and pulling yourself up the rope, one hand at a time, all the while concentrating on the sensations as you climb upwards. Be aware of the feeling of the rope against your hands, and the motion of your body as you pull yourself up from your bed, and concentrating also on the feelings of your arms slowly but surely pulling yourself upwards.

The Rope Technique is extraordinarily successful at inducing an Out of Body Experience, even in people who have struggled for a long time to see any results. Quite quickly, a feeling of fairly intense vertigo is experienced, and projection is generally instantaneous, provided the student has kept themselves calm and relaxed throughout.

2. Out of Body Experience using the Ladder Technique

Occasionally, people have difficulty with the rope technique for astral projection, as they just don’t feel that their imaginary hands and arms are strong enough to hold them and pull them up the rope. This may sound strange to you, but it is a phenomenon more common than you would think!

In this instance, a ladder may be imagined hanging from the ceiling, instead, which has the benefit of allowing the would-be Astral Projector to use his or her feet, as well as the hands.

All other aspects of this method remain the same as with the Rope Projection Technique.

3. Out of Body Experience with the Point Shift Method

The next two techniques for Out of Body Experiences are slightly more traditional and also more difficult for many people. However, some people take to these kinds of Astral Projection techniques like a duck to water, and it is certainly good to have as many different methods under your belt as possible.

The point shift method involves becoming intensely aware of your own body, and then mapping out in your imagination where everything in your room is, in relation to you and each other. It is for this reason that it requires quite a lot of concentration.

Once this stage has been reached, you then can feel yourself float, just a few inches, at first, and then visualize all of your surroundings from that new perspective. The idea is to feel as if you have already projected out of you body, and keeping your awareness of where you are and what you visualize from the view-point of your imaginary self!

Finally, you slowly rise from your physical body. This takes what can only be described as a very relaxed form of will-power. Some force is necessary, but you must not allow your body to become tense. Congratulations, you have projected, and once this method of Astral Projection is mastered, you will find it far easier to project under almost any circumstances.

4. Using the Self-Visualization Method for Astral Travel

This is the first method I learnt to induce an Out of Body Experience with!

Like the Point Shift method, it is among the more difficult for many people, and this probably accounts for many of my early struggles to master Astral Projection. However, once learnt it is a good technique that only becomes quicker with practice!

At the heart of this technique for inducing an Out of Body Experience is creating a detailed, life-like double of yourself. I find it works well either lying down or seated, but it works best in an environment you are very familiar with. Visualize yourself, starting at the feet, and working your way up, including any details you believe will help your body-double to feel real to you.

Sometimes I imagine really intricate detail, from buttons to eyebrow hairs, and other times I imagine in much broader strokes.

With some effort, you can now allow your body-double to stand up or sit up.

At this point you may start to feel a pressure in your head or in your chest.

Don’t panic, as this is the projection point kicking in. If all goes to plan, your awareness will now have shifted entirely to the projected body.

If you find it difficult to visualize, you could try practicing this visualization exercise, which incidentally is quite effective at creating a trance-state. Joseph Bearwalker Wilson also wrote about some very smart exercises to train yourself to attain an altered state of consciousness, which you can find referenced here.

5. The Rolling-Out Technique for Projection

Not a complete system for Astral Projection, in itself, but more of an aid, for when projection has not quite been successful. I generally alternate this technique with others when projection is proving difficult, or use it to finish the projection after using the rope technique.

This is a method of inducing an Out of Body Experience while in bed or in a reclining position. It is effective because the act of rolling in your bed is something that we each experience many times a night, and the familiarity of this action makes it easy to visualize for the purpose of helping to induce an Out of Body Experience.

Simply “feel yourself” rolling back and forth in your bed, and allow your imagined view point to reflect each new position. This technique for Astral Projection is quite often enough to trigger a successful Out of Body Experience, even when you have found yourself struggling using other methods. I have to say, though, that I have seldom found it effective on its own.

6. The Driving System for Out of Body Experiences

Another effective system, that I believe was also discovered by the great Robert Bruce. As I describe it, it will become apparent that this technique for Astral Projection is not one of the more traditional methods!

You may have noticed, while driving, or playing a computer driving game, that concentrating on the driving, while the views from outside move quickly past, constantly changing, you can easily find yourself in a trance. We can often lose track of time, or get to a destination without really remembering the journey.

We can use our remembered experiences to help induce astral travel, by recollecting the feeling of motion combined with the ever-changing and moving landscape. This should result in a deep trance state quite quickly, allowing the projector to now switch to another method, say the rope technique, to make the actual projection.

Personally, I have rarely used this method for inducing an OBE. It certainly works; however I do have a concern that using this method could easily train the practitioner of Astral Projection to always associate the feelings of driving with entering into a deep trance state. This would be undesirable, for obvious reasons!

7. The Picture Technique for Projection into a Virtual Reality

I have saved the most exciting and unusual method of Astral Projection for last!

After having entered a trance state, fully mentally and physically relaxed, the picture technique for Astral Projection can yield some quite stunning results. I did this first by accident, an did not succeed in replicating it until a couple of years later.

You want to use a picture, which can be a painting or a photograph, and allow yourself to imagine yourself in the landscape. Looking at a reflection of that picture in a mirror increases the feeling of depth in the image, which I think was a crucial part of me mastering this technique for Out of Body Experience.

Really “feeling” and “seeing” the details around you is the key for making this Astral Projection technique work. Start by allowing an imaginary view-point to get closer and closer to the image, and then gently but firmly push your consciousness actually into the picture. This technique allows the Astral Traveler to explore a virtual world or worlds, and also use this as a starting point for travelling to other Astral Worlds.

One problem that people often find with Astral Projection is that they can successfully project to a specific place or Astral realm, but shortly find the destination morphing into somewhere different. The Picture technique for Out of Body Experience neatly side-steps these kinds of problems, transporting the traveler to a much more clearly defined world, that you could visit and explore many times, and results of each exploration are much more likely to be consistent.

This is not the easiest Astral Projection technique to master, but its results will speak for themselves, if you are prepared to put in the extra effort!

Is Astral Projection compatible with Christian beliefs?

By C.Taylor

Is it possible to Astral Project AND be a good Christian?

Whether or not Astral Projection is appropriate for the practicing Christian is a question that many people have asked themselves.

Why there should be a resistance to Astral Projection within parts of the Christian community, I can only speculate.

Out of Body Experiences certainly happened to quite a few of the main players in the Bible; and it is also true to say that, as a generalization, most people who have experimented with Astral Projection have found that it reinforced their religious convictions. Regardless of whether Christian, Hindu, Muslim or Buddhist, time and time again, I have heard descriptions of Out of Body Experiences full of religious imagery.

Dreams are mentioned countless times in the Bible, as a way of God communicating with his followers. The visions and prophesies that come to God’s chosen servants very often take the unmistakable form of the Lucid Dream.

My feeling is that the cause of some Christian’s antipathy towards Astral Projection is based more upon the fact that a lot of the information available on the subject is found in the more New Age or Occult websites and bookstores. This has lead to an unfortunate association with Ouija boards, Tarot cards and other subjects with nothing really in common with the Out of Body Experience.

There are many Christian Astral Projectors out there, who find such things as Ouija boards extremely distasteful, but think nothing of Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection. For these people, Astral Travel is a way of strengthening and rejoicing in their spirituality.

While there are those who claim that they use Astral Projection for clairvoyant purposes, which understandably can make the subject contentious for the Christian, this is not really an aspect of OBEs that is of great interest to most Astral travelers.

The greatest part of the whole experience is that of travelling and exploring the spaces that become available for you when you master Astral Projection, and a great many Christians have found a new dimension that does in no way replace their faith, but rather complements it.

If you’re reading this, wondering whether practicing Astral Projection can be compatible with Christianity, please try to dispel any concerns that this anything to do with the Occult. Thousands of committed Christians have found in Astral Projection an extra dimension to their spirituality, that in no way contradicts any religious teachings.

Furthermore, it is often those who already have that spiritual aspect to their life who find the process of mastering Astral Projection that much easier.

I would certainly hate for you to miss out on the marvelous experiences, and self-realization that comes with them, for the sake of following too-closely a dogma preached by people who have clearly never actually experienced Astral Projection.

Is There a Danger that I Will Not Be Able to Return to My Body After Astral Projection?

By C.Taylor

Hamlet and his Father's Ghost

A common myth about Astral Projection is that of Astral travelers somehow becoming stranded, & unable to return to their body after projecting.

This is quite a pervasive myth, because the idea of one’s body and soul being permanently separated is the stuff of nightmares. Essentially, it would mean death, with the ethereal body destined to wander the astral realms.

A novel has even been written by James Herbert (Nobody True, published in 2003 by Macmillan) with this very idea as its premise. The main character is brutally murdered during an Out of Body Experience, and upon trying to return to his body finds that it is no longer possible. The rest of the story involves him attempting to find out the truth of what happened, avenge his own death, all the while watching events around his life, but unable to interact. Gradually, he discovers that much of his life has been a lie.

And more recently the Insidious movies have created a lot of worries for would-be Astral Travelers.

Fortunately, although it makes for a good story, the reality is that this happening during Astral Projection is virtually impossible. The myth probably stems from the fact that occasionally a little difficulty is experienced in returning to the body. This does really happen from time to time, but it is nothing to get concerned about.

If you should find yourself having re-entry problems during Astral Projection, it is important to know that there is no reason to panic! Just enjoy the extra time that you have to travel and explore, and you will return to your body in good time.

The other side of the same myth involves something happening to the physical body while the etheric body is off travelling. Again, this idea is quite a horrific one, and it is no wonder that it has a hold on popular imagination. This also is a fear that I believe is pretty much unfounded.

When we are Astral Projecting and something arises that could be a threat, the ethereal body will return instantly to the physical body; this is something I have experienced a couple of times. You should not regard your body as being any more defenseless when you are having an Out-of-Body-Experience than when you are sleeping!

Furthermore, when Astral Projection takes place, the physical body and the ethereal body are never truly separated, and you can rest assured that should the worst happen your ethereal body will expire as soon as your physical body does.

How can I be so confident that you cannot be permanently separated from your body during Astral Projection?

To someone who is not experienced in Astral Projection, it may seem that there is no way of knowing for sure, either way. However, during my travels I have had countless encounters with people from all over the world. I am sure that during this time I would have met someone who had become permanently separated from their body, if it were possible. Indeed, the Astral planes would be littered with them.

Are Out of Body Experiences Safe?

By C.Taylor

Thomas_Burke_The_Nightmare_engraving

Are there any dangers involved in inducing an Out of Body Experience?

Well, it is sensible to question the safety of Astral Projection, and it is a subject that requires a serious answer.

To start with, I must say that I have been astral projecting for many years, and no harm has come to me.

On an anecdotal level, I also know many people who have been inducing Out of Body Experiences, some for longer than myself, without any psychological or physical harm.

However, you may find that some of your Out of Body Experiences are quite unsettling, particularly your earlier ones.

These early projections should not actually be frightening, but due to the new-ness of the experience, will certainly feel strange.

The initial feeling as you project from your body is particularly unnerving, the first time it is experienced. If you have not experienced the sensation of leaving your body before, I recommend you read about it here, as it is very helpful to understand what is happening at this point.

Even so, your experiences in astral travel should be more akin to the feelings you experience in real-life travelling. You will find yourself visiting places which may look different and strange, and where customs may differ, but the experience will be more bemusing than scary.

One theory sometimes expounded among those who practice Astral Projection is that “like attracts like”. That is, if you are inducing an Out of Body Experience with intentions that are basically benign, then you will find yourself visiting only the more enjoyable astral planes. This is outside of your control, more-or-less. Even if you wanted to visit astral planes that are “darker” than you would be able to handle, it seems that generally speaking there is some kind of a force that will prevent you from doing so.

The one way to greatly increase your chances of having an unhappy Out of Body Experience is to use drugs to help induce a successful Astral Projection.

There is no doubt that certain illicit substances can make it much easier to project outside your body. This is where the problem lies.

The ease with which the astral traveler induces an Out of Body Experience makes it far more likely that they will encounter more than they are experienced to handle.

I know there are countless astral projectors who regularly use drugs to help with their projections, without any adverse effects. However, it only takes one time, one bad experience, and that can be enough to spoil any future Out of Body Experiences.

It is for this reason, and not for any notions of morality, that leads me to strongly urge any would be astral travelers to steer clear of using drugs to aid astral projection.

Besides which, it is far more rewarding to learn the technique for inducing an Out of Body Experience simply through practice and patience. This will ultimately lead to you being able to project under any circumstances, and in any environment.

Is Astral Projection Real?

By C.Taylor

It is certainly a reality that millions of people have practiced Astral Projection over the years, and I can attest to this from personal experience.

I have met many Astral Travellers in real life, and also very many during my own astral voyages. Astral Projection has, of cause, also been quite well-documented, and there is a fair amount about the process, both on the internet and in printed form. Not just as anecdotes, but also in the form of rigorous scientific documentation.

But the complicated question is not really whether Astral Projection is “real”, as in “possible”, which it certainly is, but more, what happens during Astral Projection?

How much of what happens during the Out of Body experience can be regarded as “real”, and how much is imagined?

As an aside, a hardcore philosopher like Descartes would be able to argue that you cannot rely on even your own perceptions and observations, and that everything could be an illusion.

Since I don’t find this an especially helpful way to live either in the real world or in an out of body reality, I will not concern myself with this. Anyway, I suspect that he didn’t spend that much of his time bumping into doors and walls, either!

Once you have grasped the basics of Astral Projection, it is relatively easy to conduct your own experiments to research the answers to the question “Is Astral Projection real?”.

One simple experiment to try is to place a playing card, face-up, without looking at it, on top of a wardrobe or somewhere else that will normally be out of sight. During your Astral Projection, you will float up and observe the card, and try to remember what card it was. As soon as you return to your body, you can then check the card to see if you are correct. You will be unlikely to find that you are correct every time, however you should find that you are right about the card more than enough to establish that you can actually “see” the card during your astral projections!

Another experiment that can be very informative is to get a friend who also projects, and get them to visit somewhere that you know very well, but they have never been. Often, there will be big inconsistencies between the version of the location they visit and your first-hand knowledge of the same place. There will also likely be great similarities between the “astral” and “real” versions. I cannot claim to know exactly why this should be, but when Astral travelling, it is very easy to slip between astral planes, especially when visiting places we do not know intimately.

It is for this reason you should be careful when thinking that you can use Astral Projection as any reliable method of predicting the future, or any other such silliness. Regardless of what you read or hear, Astral Projection cannot, in my view, be used for clairvoyant purposes. This not to say that it cannot be used to increase your intuition, but just that you should not take everything at face-value.

I thoroughly recommend doing these kinds of experiments when Astral Projecting. A probing and questioning mind is very beneficial for the Astral Projection process, and you should not 100% believe anything you read on the subject of Out of Body Experiences as being real. And when I say this, I am including my own writings on the subject of Astral Projection! The whole area of Astral Projection is incredibly subjective, and different people have quite different experiences, which are colored by the belief systems, the energy levels, and state of mind of the individual.

A Christian is likely to have a very different Out of Body Experience, with different imagery compared to a Hindu or a Buddhist! (Although the similarities between the experiences will certainly outweigh the differences.)

Also, a great deal of the Astral Projection experience is reliant on the ability to remember the details of the Out of Body Experience after the return to the body. Because of this, it can become difficult to know exactly what happened during your Out of Body Experience. You will probably find that one of the main areas you will need to practice on most with your experiments in astral travel is your recall of your projection experiences.

I will explain methods for improving your recall of your Astral Projections later. This is often the most over-looked technique for Out of Body Experience, as without mastering recall, you may as well have not projected at all! It is the memory of the Astral Projection experience that makes it real for you. Click here to find out why I believe getting a diary to record your astral travels is such a good idea.
